Summer Term 1
What a start to the summer term. Even though term 3A is short, we have managed to fit a lot of learning beyond the classroom in.
We celebrated our young artists and those who submitted entries into the Gloucestershire Young Photographer of the year. We had several entries submitted for display and a COMMENDED entry entitled "First Signs of Spring".
Life now living with COVID, saw Our Key Stage 2 return to weekly swimming lessons. In addition, children have represented their school in sports events such as Tag rugby and athletics. It was incredible to see over 80 of our Key Stage 2 pupils, represent the school in a range of track and field events.
We would like to congratulate our Year 6 pupils, who completed their Standardised Assessment Tests (SATs) this term. They were excited to start their test days by coming into the Year 6 breakfast bar and celebrating on their final day with hot chocolate and treats. They showed great resilience throughout the week and we are very proud of all they have achieved at The Rissington School.
Our Year 4 children had the opportunity this term to experience and participate in a range of outdoor activities at South Cerney Water Park. The residential trip was brilliant; the children had to interact socially and take responsibility for themselves whilst also considering others. They definitely improved in confidence, self-esteem, co-operation, trust and independence; even improving their domestic routines too!
Our final week this term, culminated in our Jubilee celebrations wearing red, white and blue. Classes made bunting and created window decorations to celebrate the Queen's 70 year reign. We celebrated in style with a fish and chip picnic lunch; danced away at our Jubilee Disco and the term finished with a rendition of "Street Party" and of course The National Anthem.
We hope you enjoy the double Bank Holiday and celebrate the Jubilee in style too.
