Attendance

Statistics in the UK show that pupils who performed better at the end of primary and secondary school missed fewer days of school than those who did not perform so well.  For example, in 2019, 84% of Year 6 pupils who had 100% attendance achieved the expected standard at the end of primary school, compared to 40% of pupils who were persistently absent.

If your child is poorly, please phone the office before registration. The information produced here by the NHS is very useful to determine whether your child should attend school.

If your child requires time out of school for an appointment, please complete a form from the school office.

Working together to improve school attendance

In August 2024, the DFE published new guidance for schools, parents and other professionals to support, monitor and report attendance of pupils.

This guidance can be found here.

At The Rissington School, we have various strategies in place to support children to attend school regularly.  This support is explained in this letter:

Supporting Attendance at The Rissington School

Additional information has been produced by the DFE and GCC to support parents.  Please view this below.
