Miss Hudson
Head Teacher and Designated Safeguarding Lead
I’m delighted to be the Head Teacher of The Rissington School. Before joining this wonderful school, I was Deputy Head and Acting Head Teacher of a school in Cheltenham and, before this, at a large school in Gloucester, where I worked as a newly qualified teacher and progressed through the years to Assistant Head. I have always loved teaching. My favourite subjects to teach are English, Maths and RE, and I thoroughly enjoy seeing children at play and engaging with opportunities outside of the classroom, on trips and during clubs for example. Out of school, I enjoy playing netball, watching rugby, shopping for sunglasses and spending time with my family. I have one daughter and two step-children, all of whom are now well-into their teenage years. The children have already heard a lot about my little Shihtzu, Lucy, who I hope to bring into school one day…when she starts to behave! My favourite place to holiday is Salcombe, Devon, and I am a huge Gloucester Rugby supporter. A fun fact – my Grandad and Great Grandad both captained Gloucester and represented England in rugby (many years ago).
Mrs Loxton
Deputy Head Teacher, SENCO and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead
I have been Deputy Head Teacher at the Rissington School since April 2015. This was a very exciting time, as I joined at the same time that the Upper Rissington site opened. I completed my PGCE in 2008, following a decision to change career and went on to achieve my Masters in Education in 2010. I began my teaching career at Wychwood Primary School and taught in both KS1 and KS2; it was here that I become a Primary Science Specialist and achieved my National Professional Qualification for Middle Leaders (NPQML). In addition to my role of Deputy Head and whilst at Rissy, I have taught in years 1-6 in classes at both sites; I have led key stage teams and my subject specialism (and passion) is in the teaching and learning of English, especially reading for pleasure. I love to take on new challenges and have recently qualified as SENCO for the school. On a personal note, I live locally with my husband Wayne and some of you may know him as the Chair of Stow on the Wold Rugby Club. We have two grown up boys and the most adorable Lakeland Terrier called Bronwyn (aka Bron). We love listening to live music and we are always on the go - our aim is to travel as far and wide as we possibly can. Snorkelling and swimming with the sea-life from an outrigger canoe, off the Hawaiian Island of Maui, is an experience I will never forget.
Mrs Rose
Early Years Leader
Since an early age I have always had a fascination with the wonders of the animal world. My interest and passion in preserving natural habitats led to me gaining my degree in Marine and Terrestrial Biology at Plymouth University, which involved travelling to remote parts of the world under threat from deforestation and other man made pressures and led to my career originally starting in Environmental Biology.
After working for an Environmental charity for several years, I decided it was time for a new challenge and I trained to become a Primary School teacher. I have been teaching for almost 12 years and although I have taught across the age ranges, my passion is Early Years.
After several years of teaching I accepted the offer of becoming Early Years Lead at the Rissington School.
It has been a delight to watch this school grow and the Early Years provision flourish.
The Cotswolds holds a special place in my life as having been born and brought up locally, I have now laid down my own roots here, bringing up my young family and enjoying all the chaos and joy that family life brings.
Miss Brearley
Outcomes Co-ordinator, Curriculum Lead and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead
This is my ninth year working here at The Rissington School, my first teaching job after graduating from The University of Gloucestershire as a Newly Qualified Teacher in 2016 - teaching is all I can ever remember wanting to do. I have taught both Year 5/6 and now Year 3/4, and over my time here I’ve had a number of other roles. Currently, I am the school’s Outcomes Coordinator, where my responsibilities include leading the curriculum and assessment across the school; as well as this, I am the Maths subject lead and Mental Health and Wellbeing lead. I really enjoy teaching English, Maths and History, and my favourite part of the job has always been attending residentials with the children – it is brilliant to see the children challenge themselves in new ways and see them grow. My family are exceptionally important to me, and I visit them often back in the Midlands where I am originally from; I also became an aunt for the first time just over a year ago when my wonderful nephew was born, who I absolutely adore! Outside of school, I love to get out and go on walks in the countryside – Wales is one of my favourite places to visit – and I am an avid reader, my home is filled to the brim with books! I have also taken up swimming recently, where I’m attempting to defeat my fear of deep water! A fun fact that usually surprises people is that I used to compete at a county level in trampolining as a teenager!
